tales of a bat-eared kitten

Two stories of Nightshade from this week.

Recently there has been water on the bathroom floor very frequently. Sometimes on the toilet seat too. Very annoying when you go in there in the middle of the night and suddenly find yourself with wet socks. I thought maybe the toilet was leaking or water was dripping from the bathroom above. (The bathrooms at syn are all in-line with each other.) Then mrpet discovered the secret - our bat-eared baby was playing with the toilet water when we weren't paying attention. She sticks her paw in, then gets horrified that it's wet and has to shake it off. Lather, rinse, repeat. I swear she gets the horror/fascination with water thing from Pretzel. She likes to hang out in the bathtub too, just like him. (But they don't do it together. Maybe they feel guilty about having this fetish and prefer to enjoy it privately?)

On Wednesday Nightshade was supposed to get spayed. (You noticed my phrasing, didn't you?) The vet knocked her out and shaved her tummy. Much to her surprise, she noticed a scar on N's belly in just the place a spaying scar would be. Same size too. The vet called us, we didn't know anything about it. We had been told she hadn't been spayed. The adoption group, speedily contacted, said as far as they knew nothing had been done. The previous vet said, "Cat? What cat?" or words to that effect. Further searching into records indicates that she was, in fact, already spayed. Must have been precocious? (She was simply furious about being at the vet this time, something that has never happened before. I think she felt her time was being wasted.)
