Cover: A woman looks out over a countryside scene. She holds her hat with her hand to keep the wind from pulling it off.
First line: "Marta Jones surveyed her students, casting her eyes around the studio, with its high ceilings and skeins upon skeins of colored yarn hanging from laundry racks raised up with pulleys and secured on the wall, and the six wooden looms pressed against one another, for space was at a premium."
Themes: Rom, prejudice, dogs, horses, secrets, violin.
Best part: It passed a bus ride quite quickly.
Worst part: Maisie Dobbs is part Romany...? Really? The author said in the interview she'd known that forever but I have my doubts.
Imaginary Theme Song: A Romany violin theme, maybe something like this.
Recommended for: Fans of the series.
